Wolf Kahn Landscape

3rd grade students learned about contemporary artist, Wolf Kahn. This German artist makes beautiful landscape paintings.  We were inspired by his use of bright colors!  Take a look to see our interpretations of his work.

Landscape by Wolf Kahn.  We viewed many of his paintings before starting our own works.

After carefully studying the trees in Kahn's art, we drew some trees of our own using light colored crayons.

We made sure to color very hard, so that when we added watercolor paint on top, the waxy crayon would resist the paint.

Students chose constrasting colors to paint the background.  Contrasting colors make our trees stand out!

We practiced blending our paint as we worked.
